IC342 is a intermediate galaxy in the constellation Camelopardalis,is a Type SAB(rs)cd faced-on spiral 10 million light-years from Earth. This galaxy is also known as the Hidden Galaxy because its location behind dusty areas near our galactic equator makes it difficult to observe. The dust makes it difficult to determine its precise distance; modern estimates range from about 7 to 11 million light-years. IC342’s apparent magnitude is 9.1 and was discovered by William Frederick Denning in 1892.
It is one of the brightest in the IC342/Maffei Group, one of the closest galaxy groups to our Local Group.
The list below exhibits the number of subframes used with the exposure time for each filter. All the subframes were calibrated with Flats, Darks and Biases by PixInsight. Afterwards the subframes were combined and processed to the final image.
